Located in a wonderful location between red brown and ocher-colored hills, forming a pleasant contrast with infinite shades of green, the Archaeological Park of Segesta is dominated by the bulk of the Doric temple. Ancient Segesta, probably founded by the Elimi, as Erice, soon became one of the major cities of Hellenistic influence in the Mediterranean Basin, and in the fifth century was the biggest rival of Selinus.
